Job Description, Responsibilities, Standards, and Qualifications

Job Description:


Attends a training academy or otherwise trains to assume professional law enforcement duties. Work is performed according to detailed instructions or clearly established practices and is closely monitored.


Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

1.
Acquires knowledge and experience to enforce applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations
2.
Assists professional staff with paperwork, communications and other routine duties
3.
Monitors security for assigned facilities
4.
Participates in classes, field exercises, and other training activities
5.
Performs public safety duties under close supervision of professional personnel


Sample Technical Competencies:

1.
Knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures regarding the proper use, care, and safety of weapons
2.
Ability to negotiate variable obstacles and/or configurations on a structured driving course
3.
Ability to perform a variety of diverse performance tasks (conflict control, driving conditions and problem solving)
4.
Knowledge of accident investigations, recruiting, and public relations functions
5.
Knowledge of the proper operation of communication equipment

Entry Qualifications:

Completion of high school diploma or GED AND POST certification eligibility
