"The State Personnel Administration is proud to announce an exciting new method to assist Georgia on its quest to be the best managed state through enterprise learning. Effective November 1, 2008, the State Personnel Administration (SPA) will partner with Franklin Covey and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government to deliver and administer a greater depth of the state’s workforce development and training programs. Through these partnerships, the State Personnel Administration is utilizing scholarships for courses that are aligned with the strategic direction of the State’ leadership. This will help offset the cost of training needed to develop the employees of Georgia State Government.

Many agencies have had great success within the last year for the 4 Disciplines of Execution.

Our extended partnership with Carl Vinson Institute of Government enables the majority of training. This will enhance Leadership development programs with mentoring resources and support components that include one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and succession planning. We have focused this development in two main areas leadership and management areas. These courses will constantly be updated due to the huge resources available through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government to meet the needs of the State’s workforce.

We are also pleased to announce the addition of HR resources training and development opportunities offered through our Organization Development (OD) unit. These opportunities have been designed for state agency human resources professionals, managers and employees. Available courses and workshops will feature a variety of HR topics including managing employee performance, unlawful harassment and discrimination, ethics & accountability in the workplace and much more.

The State Personnel Administration will continue to meet the challenges with a new Advisory Council. This Council will consist of seven Agency heads that will provide direction for course offerings and scholarships.
