Retiree Recognition Program The Retiree Recognition Program, implemented in July, 2000, is designed to recognize all Georgia State government retirees. Retirees with 30 or more years of service receive their choice of a wristwatch or plaque, and retirees with less than 30 years of service receive a retirement lapel pin. Following is a downloadable copy of the brochure used by 30+ year retirees to request a watch or plaque in recognition of their service to the State of Georgia and its citizens. This brochure provides information on the program, including pictures of the writstwatches and plaque, and also serves as a order form for these items. Please note that it takes four to six weeks from the order date to receive a watch or plaque. Watches and plaques are ordered the first week of each month. Retirees who wish to receive their watch or plaque in advance of retirement are encouraged to submit their requests 60 days prior to retirement. Retirees who do not order their watch or plaque in advance of retirement will receive a brochure one month after the effective date of their retirement when the Employees' Retirement System sends their names and addresses to the Georgia Merit System. Retirees with less than 30 years of service will automatically be sent a lapel pin. Only retirees with 30 or more years of service should be provided a brochure order form. The program is only funded to recognize these retirees. Please email questions or comments to Karen Davis-Keene, or call 404-657-0577.
