FlexHelp 2009

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to FlexHelp 2009. FlexHelp is now a web application and no longer needs to be installed on your hard drive; however, it is necessary to have Adobe Acrobat installed on your PC to print the Option Statement. This application performs best with the Internet Explorer browser. Instructions for using FlexHelp are listed below. Please read the Using FlexHelp and Printing Option Statement sections for additional information.

This application is designed by the State Personnel Administration to help agencies that participate in the Flexible Benefits Program prepare the Option Statements for new employees hired during the 2009 plan year (coverage period January 2009 through December 2009). FlexHelp will accurately calculate coverage levels and premium amounts.

FlexHelp is simply a tool; it is not a complete policy manual. FlexHelp can assist you in administering the Flexible Benefits Program. It does not, however, replace nor fully explain the legal framework of a cafeteria plan and the guidelines, rules and regulations that affect the Flexible Benefits Program.

For more information or assistance, contact the Administrative & Systems Division (FlexHelpSoftware_info).

USING FLEXHELP

To begin printing an Option Statement, click on the "FlexHelp Control Number". The FlexHelp Control Number is a random number generated each time you click on the "Submit FlexHelp Control Number" button below. This will take you to the Employee Data input screen.

  • FlexHelp Control Number is already entered. Complete the fields in the Employee Data, Tax Status, and Employer Data sections. Enter the salary amount without the comma, (include the cents or pennies by using the decimal point);
  • Click the Preview Option Statement button to review your entry. Click the back key on your browser to return to the data input screen if any entry needs to be corrected; otherwise, proceed with printing the Option Statement if entry is accurate (instructions for printing the Option Statement in the next column).
  • To view each page of the Option Statement, click on the ?right? arrow button at the top of the document. The ?left? arrow button will take you to the previous page.

Are you ready to order the 2009 Option Statement? Click the Submit FlexHelp Control Number button below?

PRINTING OPTION STATEMENTS

The FlexHelp Control Number does not appear on the Option Statement and is not to be used as an alternative Employee ID. The employee must write the social security number on the paper Option Statement in the designated signature area when the employee is returning the Option Statement to the agency for processing.

  • Click the Preview Option Statement on the Employee Data input screen;
  • Click on the printer icon to the left of the Main Report drop down box at the top of the page on the Crystal Reports viewer page rather than the print button on your internet browser;
  • Select the radio button in the dialog box for "All" then click the Print button;
  • Select the radio button for ?Open this file from its current location? in the File Download box then click the "OK" button (Depending upon the operating system you may click "Open");
  • The File Download box will appear a second time. Again select the radio button for ?Open this file from its current location? in the File Download box then click the "OK" button (Depending upon the operating system you may click "Open");
  • Click the printer icon on the Acrobat Reader to print the Option Statement;
  • Close Acrobat Reader by either clicking the "X" in the top right hand corner or selecting File then Exit.

If you need to request additional Option Statements, click the "Back" key on your Internet browser for the Crystal Report Viewer.

  • Click the ?FlexHelp Control Number? button on the Employee Data input screen;
  • A new control number will be generated. Click the ?Submit FlexHelp Control Number? button for a new Employee Data input screen.
